Since 2009 in Achham and 2016 in Dolakha (following the 2015 earthquake), Nyaya Health Nepal has successfully implemented its Community Health Program. NHN’s Community Health Workers (CHWs) serve as trusted health champions, leveraging their community knowledge and strong local relationships to improve public health outcomes. Nearly 100 CHWs have been trained and deployed across Achham and Dolakha, providing home-based care that has significantly enhanced healthcare access for rural populations navigating Nepal’s challenging terrain.
From 2016 to 2020, over 40 Community Health Workers under Nyaya Health Nepal conducted approximately 40,000 home visits across four municipalities in Dolakha—Bhimeshwor, Tamakoshi, Kalinchowk, and Baiteshwor. The program strengthened community healthcare by providing counseling, maternal and child health support, and referral services. Following NHN’s transition out of Dolakha in 2020, the management and implementation of the Community Health Program were successfully handed over to the Public Health Department of Dhulikhel Hospital, ensuring the program’s long-term sustainability.
Integrated with Bayalpata Hospital, Nyaya Health Nepal’s Community Health Program was operated in Achham from 2008 to 2025. Over 60 Community Health Workers conducted more than 1 million home visits across six municipalities—Sanfebagar, Bannigadhi Jayagadh, Chaurpati, Kamalbazar, Mellekh, and Ramaroshan. The program has transformed maternal and child health in the district, boosting institutional birth rates, reducing maternal and neonatal mortality, and strengthening partnerships with local stakeholders to ensure sustainable, community-centered healthcare.
